Frequently Asked Questions
Backing Track FAQs
What is included with my backing track?
Every purchase includes all available versions of the track. Depending on the song, this may include a fully instrumental version, a version with backing vocals, and a guide-vocal version.
Your download includes both WAV and MP3 formats, so you can choose the format best suited to your performance, rehearsal or playback setup.
What audio formats do I receive?
Our backing tracks are supplied as high-quality WAV and MP3 files. There's no additional charge for the WAV version.
WAV provides uncompressed audio quality and is ideal for professional playback and performance systems, while MP3 offers a smaller, convenient file for everyday use.
What's the difference between the available versions?
Where available, your download may contain:
Instrumental / No Backing Vocals – the complete backing track without lead or backing vocals.
With Backing Vocals – the backing track with supporting or background vocals included, but without the lead vocal.
Guide Vocal – a reference version containing the lead vocal to help with learning and rehearsing the song.
The versions available vary from song to song.
Are the backing tracks in the original key?
Yes. Our tracks are recorded in the original key unless otherwise stated.
If you need a song transposed to suit your vocal range, we can usually create a custom key change for an additional charge.
Can I order a backing track in a different key?
Yes. Custom key changes are available on request for most tracks.
Please contact us with the track you're interested in and, if known, the key you require. We'll confirm availability and the additional cost.
Are individual stems available?
Individual audio stems are available for many of our backing tracks. These provide separate elements of the recording, giving you greater flexibility for rehearsals, performances and productions.
Stem availability varies between songs, so please contact us with the track you're interested in and we'll confirm availability and pricing.
How will I receive my download?
Backin' Music products are digital downloads. After completing your purchase, you'll receive access to download your files electronically.
There is no physical product or shipping charge.
Are Backin’ Music backing tracks properly licensed?
Backin’ Music operates under the relevant licensing arrangements with PRS for Music and MCPS for the production and online distribution of our backing tracks.
These arrangements cover Backin’ Music’s supply of the recordings. They do not automatically grant customers permission for commercial releases, synchronisation, broadcast or other uses that fall outside a standard backing track purchase. Please contact us about licensing our recording for those purposes. Additional permissions for the underlying song or composition may also be required.
What can I use the backing tracks for?
Our backing tracks are designed for singers and performers and are ideal for rehearsals, auditions, singing practice and live performances.
Purchasing a standard backing track download gives you access to our recording for these purposes; it does not grant ownership of the recording or rights in the underlying song or composition.
If you'd like to use one of our recordings for commercial releases, video or synchronisation, broadcast, advertising, productions or other commercial projects, additional licensing may be available directly from Backin' Music. Please contact us with details of your project and we'll let you know what licensing options are available.
Additional permissions relating to the underlying song or composition may also be required from the relevant rights holders.
Can I use a Backin' Music track on YouTube, TikTok or social media?
You can use our tracks for personal practice and performance content, but posting music online can involve rights in both our recording and the underlying composition.
Platforms such as YouTube, TikTok and Instagram operate their own music-rights and content-identification systems, and your content may be subject to claims, restrictions or licensing requirements relating to the original composition.
If you're planning a commercial or promotional use, please contact us and we'll advise on the licensing options we can provide for our recording.
Can I release my performance using one of your backing tracks?
Purchasing a standard backing track download does not automatically include the right to commercially release our recording as part of your own recording.
However, we may be able to license our backing tracks for commercial releases and other uses. Please contact us with details of the track, intended use and release, and we'll advise on the available licensing options.
Additional licences or permissions for the underlying song or composition may also be required.
Can I get a refund on a digital download?
Because our products are supplied digitally, cancellation and refund rights can differ from those applying to physical goods once downloading has begun.
Please see our Refund Policy for full details. If you've received an incorrect or faulty file, contact us and we'll help resolve the problem.
There's a problem with my download. What should I do?
Please contact us with your order number and the name of the track, along with a description of the problem you're experiencing.
If a file is missing, incorrect or faulty, we'll investigate and help put it right.
I can't find the song I'm looking for. Can I request it?
With thousands of professional backing tracks available, there's a good chance we may already have what you're looking for.
Try searching by song title or original artist. If you still can't find it, please contact us and let us know what you're looking for.
